Who: My name is Chris. I’m a Jesus follower, husband of a wonderful wife, a father, and pastor of a small Mennonite congregation in southeast PA.
The Blog: The title for this blog comes from two places…
- the call Jesus gave his followers to walk in his steps (“Follow me”), recognizing that I stumble and trip at times. Yet God still invites us to get back up to continue walking on the path.
- the song “Mystery” by Bruce Cockburn, especially the verse, “Come all you stumblers who believe love rules/stand up and let it shine.” Somehow Bruce’s music speaks to a deep place within me, even if I don’t totally understand it, and I love that.
I try to use this space to journal, post things of interest, and to try out things I’m thinking about or studying hoping to develop some conversation with others on the journey.
Hobbies and interests: Hanging with my wife and son; Baseball; Surfing & bodyboarding; Celtic music; Reading; Theology; Comic books; Die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, Phillies, Eagles, and the Oakland A’s (random, yes, but they originated in Philly; I wear a replica Jimmy Foxx jersey on occasion); Watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail way too many times…
Bookshelf Favorites: N.T. Wright, John Howard Yoder, Scot McKnight, Thomas Cahill, Robert Webber, JK Rowling, Calvin & Hobbes
Thanks for visiting!
